Received from, Darrell Derr.

Darrell was a Radio Operator with Det. 2, 6994th Security Squadron at Pleiku in 1966/67. Was in Pleiku before aircraft arrived. Was with the 6924th Danang prior. While waiting for aircraft we flew on "Flare ships" to log flying time. Also rode guard for various convoys. Flyboys trying to help guard the army supplies. I have visited many sites and the Det 2 at Pleiku is never mentioned. I'm sure according to the sites I have visited it was moved later in the conflict. I don't remember enough about the facts about my unit in Pleiku but, I was there. Exact dates have been lost in paperwork over the past 30 years but I still have my mug celebrating my 100 missions with dates. Nice to know that some things can still be found about those years.

Received from, Lon Hamernik.

I was also a argmente as a lot of us did to guard the airbase. If possible could I be added to the year book?

Received from, Tommy D. Pedersen, Louisville, Kentucky.

I didn't realize it at the time but probably the most important thing I've done in my life. And next to my children the most memorable thing. I never talked about what we did figuring it was still classified info. Then I saw our missions being told about on the History Channel. Now I work as a manager in a manufacturing plant where there are quite a few Vietnamese working. @#%$! why didn't I accept the Air Force offer to go to linguist school. Great site! Hope some of my buddies find it. Where are you Tom Henry Jr., John Starks, Ron Jozwik, Herman "mouse" Pulyer, Tim Tucker?

I was the roomate of Lt. Nasipak of (CAP-53) at Pleiku and squadron friend and fellow pilot with Lt. Mike Wall (KIA-CAP 53) I stumbled upon this site and have read the online report of CAP-53. I later served at Mather AFB with Capt Lemmon, the Navigator. Thanks for producing a great EC-47 web site. It was great reading the first hand account of the shoot down after all these years. I never heard from Lt. Nasipak after the shoot down and his wounding. I have visited the Wall several times and thought of those crew members each time. BTW, I flew on the 1st mission back to that frag area after the shootdown. Needless to say it was a very tense several hours on target. Thanks again.....Jerry Bradley

Very nice tribute of the units involved and I have many items to contribute if wanted. Contact me. Disturbing, that I am not listed as a member of 6994th, as I was there before the planes arrived, and helped build the facilities along with most of the original airmen and officers who arrived in 9/66. We left in Dec/66 to go to the Phillipines for survival school for two weeks and started to fly when we returned. More info is available of wanted...Charles Phippin
