Rick was a 292x1 Morse Operator with Det. 3, 6994th SS at NKP for 1 month, then the remainder of his tour was at Ubon. Says, "it was great to find the site. Late in 73, I was the only one on 2 different flights a month apart that didn't land very good. Tail number 208 got caught in a crosswind and went off the runway and bounced around for a while before coming to rest tipped over on one side on the wing tip. I was the only one hurt with a mild whiplash. Then Tail number 204, the tail wheel didn't lock after landing and wandered off the runway before coming to rest. After that, everybody was a little leary to be on the same flight as I was on.
