Received from, Edward E. HOsbach, Beavercreek, Ohio.
Edward was assigned to the 360th Tactical Electronics Warfare Sqadron at Tan Son Nhut as a Pilot from November 1966 to October 1967. He was a member of one of the early Ferry Flight Crews, (bringing the aircraft from Grenier Field New Hampshire to Tan Son Nhut). Quite a trip for a 2 engine aircraft over a four engine ocean. Received this on August 5th, As a pilot on the Phyliss Ann project, I was part of the crew to ferry an aircraft from Grenier Field, NH to Vietnam on Oct.66. We finally brought the aircraft in to TSN on 6 Nov.66. My tour was from that date to departure on 20 Oct.67. I flew out of TSN. There were, however several TDY's when we staged out of Pleiku in May/June'67 and Hue Phu Bai in Sept'67. In the air, the tour of duty can pretty well be summarized by hours and hours of boredom, punctuated by moments of signal activity. To this day I am amazed at the capabilities of the guys in "the back end". It was all worth while. The living quarters in Saigon were, well, very interesting.

Received from, Ed Miller
Ed says he was a EC-47 Aircraft Commander/Pilot stationed at 360 TEWS TSN from May 1972 until the unit closed and I moved to 361st at NKP in Dec 1972. I left NKP in Mar or April 1973. When we closed the unit in TSN, I believe a Lt. Col. John W. Griffith was the CO. See attached photo. Ed sent two photos from the last days of the 360th TEWS. One is the mascot Sugg's (sp?) in a C-47 and another of her with some senior officers. I recall the loss of Baron 52 and Baron 56. I still have the pamphlet from the memorial service for the crew of Baron 52. I can scan it in color and send it if you are interested. I also recall being shot at in the same area where Baron 52 when down about a week or two before the loss of Baron 52. Initially we thought it was 37mm AA, but on further reflection, it was more likely an SA-7. I remember seeing the missile's white plume go between the copilot and the #2 engine if the aircraft. I recall having the navigator getting a fix on our location at the time. Hope this info is helpful. I will register on the web site. Ed Miller (Edward C. Miller, Capt. USAF Ret.)

Received from, Tom Dehart, Fremont, California.
I came accross your site via Google recently. After all these years, I had no idea this existed. Anyway, thanks much for taking on this responsibility. I was an intercept operator stationed at Pleiku 1969-70. While checking out your site, I went to the EC-47 History Site Main Directory and clicked on #17 Yearbooks and photos. About 2/3rd's of the way thru the list of people posting their photos, there is one from Mike Homcha relating to Pleiku. On his page 3 of photo's, there is a VERY young man wearing headsets, with the caption below "can't remember who this person is either". This is actually me! I communicated with Mike, and he now remembers me. He suggested I drop you a note to edit the photo next time you make changes and updates. I have a good new e-mail pal now with Mike, and it is great to re-establish contact and discuss old memories. This is part of my past I really have just ignored, so its good to go back and finally remember. Thanks again, Tom DeHart Tom's Email Address: tdehartjr (at) hotmail.com |
