The only thing I can remember was the monsoon. I swear it started to rain when I got there and as well as I can remember the sun, the beautiful sun did not come out until Christmas Eve. I just happened on to your site an am totally flabbergasted with your work. It is outstanding by any measure. Some names come back Bill Goad, Jorn Darr and a few others. I don't know what you need. I have found some orders(TDY) admin etc. and I have my complete flight records with tail nos. I haven't found any pictures yet. I dont remember how many missions I was on but I had 732 hours of combat time mostly in the ol Goon. Also flew Goons in Air Rescue 56-58. If there is something that would be useful to complete your work let me know.

Hi Jim...great website..I tried to enter my data, but couldn't get it to send. I was scheduled to go on the mission that Michael Conner and Lt. Wall were killed on, and was flying the 8 hour mission adjacent to them (I believe they were flying in an area called 8 bravo and we were in 8 alpha.). Sgt "porky" porter and I were changed since I believe that Mike Conner was the scheduler. It was wonderful to see his son. I had flown with Lt. Wall less than a week before he was killed.
Anyway, I miss the Pleiku group, including Guppy Dolan, Frank Dayton, and Wendell Wash, among so many others and wish them well. I saw Joe Martin's picture of Kim and Baby San, and I have the fondest memories of them as well...it was nice to have someone acting as "mother hen" in the barracks. I was also at Tan Son Nhut when we won the base football championship by beating the front end crew in the championship game. Stuffy Daniels, Don Renner, and a fellow named Acosta were players I remember. Acosta picked off a kickoff as it bounced off the receivers chest and ran for a touchdown. Remarkable play. Anyway...great job on the website and I thank you for bringing back some wonderful and some very painful memories. Oh..Bob Fisher was a dear friend too and would love hearing from him as well.

Here's a brief run down of my assignments. Jan '60 - Jan '62 Misawa AB Japan -- Feb '62 - Feb '65 Bremerhaven Germany -- Mar '65 - Jan '66 Onna Point Okinawa. They asked for volunteers to go to Da Nang VN (6924th). For unknown reasons, I volunteered.
Jan '66 - Sep '66. Da Nang VN. They asked for volunteers to start VN all over and go on flying status. Sounded great so I went.
Nov '66 - Nov '67 Tan Son Nhut VN (6994th) Spent most of my time in Saigon with Charlie Owens and Jack Haulsee. Don't remember exactly how many but squeezed in approximately 120 missions when not downtown.
From there I went to Kadena (6990th)  Where I flew 135's for 18 months before I committed the USAFSS sin of marrying one of them foreigners. Been married 32 years so I guess I did the right thing.

I knew very well where 201 was as I spent one of the longest days of my life sitting in the crew lounge at Nha Trang with almost the full squadron waiting for her to come home and of course she never did. Heard about your web site from FTVA and poking around e-mails from other guys. I arrived 18 July 1968, assigned Charlie Flight. Was on sick sick eight bird (0668) when engine lost and had to sit down at small marine post in Quan Tri (?) on NVA boder. Spent couple days there waiting on replacement engine and found tail splattered with small arms fire. only other thing exciting was myself and willie(?) Left Plekiu asap!! was not suppose to leave until 18 July 1969 but had the admin clerk cut us orders to leave 1 July 1969. Left Pleiku 1 July and arrived Tan Son Nhut the same day. Found a C-141 driver getting ready to leave with 4 empty web seats. Grabbed two box lunches, piled onboard and next stop was Dover, Delaware! Don"t know what they ever did with out regular tickets!
