"The Final Day's Flights Return"

All of the 37 photos in this series were taken and provided by Stan Poyas on the return of the last days mission returns of the EC-47 Operation in SEA on May 15th, 1974.

Stan turned his house upside down for 2 days trying to find the photo of the returning bird with the smoke flare, which by the way is the photo on the cover of the book, "The EC-47 Experience".

For those un-initiated, the champagne and fire truck hosedown are a ritual justly deserved. The folks in these photos literally wrote the final chapter of the EC-47 mission in Southeast Asia, which began eight years earlier. They closed the door on a mission that had claimed 36 of their fellow aircrew members in the mission accomplishments over the past 8 years. They closed the book on losses.

If you can identify any of the men in these photos, please send the names and the photo number (number appears below each photo) to me and I will add them to the appropriate photo. Thanks, J.C.
