This picture was taken July 1970 at DaNang and shows the front of the 362 TEWS
Flight Support building. Following mission support briefings by Det2, 6994SS,
and the 362TEWS Intelligence personnel, the crew went to the Flight Support
shop to check out weapons, ammo, and survival vests. All this took
approximately 2 hours to complete, so if you were scheduled for a 0600 take
off, you had a 0400 crew pick up.

This picture taken November 1970, shows a small part of the Marines
Contonement Area which was all around the Det 2 living area. I heard it said
that we (Det 2) were surrounded by 5,000 plus Marines.
The Marines were good to us when we first arrived at DaNang in June/July 1970.
They even let us share their dinning hall, which was super because they we on
"rations and a half" and we Air Force people were on "half rations." I can
still remember the Sunday morning brunch with steak and eggs - really great.
Unfortunately, the Marines "threw us out" of all their facilities, including
the dinning hall as more and more Air Force people took advantage of a good
thing with abuse/ignorance of Marine customs and courtesies and segregation of
the ranks almost totally ignored. The Marines did not appreciate the abuse,
so they "threw us out." Most of us cried for a week over this loss,
especially the loss of the good dinning hall.

This picture was taken in November 1970 during a mission up North close to the
DMZ. It shows Kae San (Spelling?) from probably 10,000 to 11,000 feet. We
were not supposed to exceed 10,000 feet altitude because the backenders had no
oxygen, however, as I recall, some of the mountains up there peaked out very
high, so we would sometimes get up to 11,000 feet for a while to give us some
distance between the possible enemy ground troops and our aircraft.
This picture was taken after the big battle/seige that took place at Kae San,
so the place was deserted when this picture was taken.

This picture was taken September 1970 and shows the TFW, F-4 Revetment Area in
the background. Also in the background is Monkey Mountain, I believe.

Picture taken July 1970. It shows an airfield and what appears to be a
city/town nearby. I don't have a clue where this was, but maybe some of the
guys will remember. It appears to be a good aireal shot, however.

area during our approach to the airfield returning from a mission.

Picutre taken November 1970 as we returned "Feet Wet" to DaNang. I believe
this is the harbor area outside DaNang. This is the last of the pictures at
DaNang. I still have some Chieu Hoi Leaflets to send, which I will do later
