= A Request for Historical Information =
I recently received an email asking for help in gathering historical information about the EC-47 Mission; specifically information about the Crew of Baron 52 and the people of the 6994th SS and the 361st TEWS at NKP. I informed the gentleman that I would not disclose any personal contact information but some such information could be found on "The EC-47 History Site". I also informed him that I would post his Email Request that would give any of our folks the opportunity to contact him. His letter of request verbatim, is below.
Dear Sir, My name is Shaun Griffiths.
I am currently researching the history of the 6994th Security Squadron and the 361st TEWS with a view to a future literary work. I recently discovered the remarkable story of Baron 52 and the work performed by units such as those mentioned during the war in SEA. I would like to produce a literary work that looks at the individuals involved in the Baron 52 mission as a way of describing the work performed by these units. I am writing to you to ask if you may be able to help me with regard to informtion about the daily duties on such an airbase as NKP at that time, the individual work done by each member of a flight, and, if possible, would you be able to provide me with contact addresses for veterans who knew the individual personnel of that fateful mission. I would like to produce something that would reach a wider audience and tell the story of such units, which, I believe, would serve as a fitting memorial to all personnel who were lost during the war in SEA.My aim is not to dramatise or distort the Baron 52 story, but to produce a factual account of that mission in the hope that the reader may better appreciate the sacrifices made. To achieve this, I really do need the help of people like yourself and your fellow comrades. I can be contacted at [email protected] or my home address. 55 Watkinson Street,
