Jim Trozzo reported on the question "File for non-profit staus for tax purposes". Jim explained his recommendation that we do not take any action at this time. Basically, the Association is social in nature, total assets are liquid (cash), single bank account with tax number to satisfy banking community. At this time Gordon Bassett motioned to pass the hat for donations for the web-master (J.C.Wheeler-TEWS361st) to maintain the EC47 site. $583.00 was humbly accepted by J.C. Election of officers: A motion to re-elect all by Lamar Hunt, seconded by Fred Sanders and approved by all. Officers are: President/J.C. Wheeler - 361st First V.P./Gordon Bassett - 362nd Second V.P./Dave Eddy - 360th Treasuer - Jim Trozzo/6994th Recording Sec./Doug Milton/6994th Dues: A general and spirited discussion by many who favored the idea that dues should be initiated. However, the how to and how much and management of this idea could not be reached. J.C. requested that this agenda item be discussed at next meeting, but should anyone have good ideas to please e-mail him. All in agreement. Next reunion: Several sites and dates were mentioned, but the most plausible one was Wright-Patterson at Dayton, Ohio. J.C. introduced Jim Coffman, Jim spoke about the Air Force museum there and how it would be a nice locale for our next reunion. A memorial plaque could be established and placed im memoriam of our fallen airmen. Perhaps an effort could be made to contact families of those fallen and have them in attendance. Dave Brooks, Mitch Cooper, Gary Williams and Gordon Bassett discussed whch dates would work. The tentative decision was the anniversary day of the EC47 last mission; May 15th. J.C. asked for volunteers to work on a committee and the following were selected: Jim Coffman, Mitch Cooper, Gary Williams, Col. Hall, and Joe Martin. (the Dayton 5) These men will talk together and send a report to J.C.concerning details etc of Reunion 2002 may 15-18. Open Topics: Should there be more than one signature on the Association checks? Account in more than 1 name and check book held by two members. Most agreed that the President and Treasurer names should be on the account and either of the two could sign checks. Dave Brooks and Al Budington asked the Treasurer and President to come up with a solution. Nomination of Unit Reps: 6994th Rick Yeh [email protected] 360th Fred Sanders [email protected] 361st Dave Brooks [email protected] 362nd LeRoy Mulch [email protected] These reps will be responsible for contacting and urging unit members to attend the next reunion. Challenges were bandied about which unit would have the best representation at Reunion 2002 Dayton. The 362nd (Gordon Bassett) was the most vocal, however, time and effort will tell!!! Door Prizes: Antique Airline hats were donated by Ben Pennell ,6994th, who could not make the reunion from the Philippines. Some of the lucky winners were: Lamar Hunt, Billy Stahl, Wayne Klemme, Orvin Copeland and D. Milton. Winners of the EC47 license plate (Donated by Denny Taylor) include Rusty Mulligan, Tom Machos, Norm Flemens and Gary Williams. The grand prize "Combat Cougar" video was won by Jan Bassett (Gordon's better half). Pictures: Rick Yeh did an outstanding job both at the picnic and at the meeting. Now we wait to see if he had film and focusing set??? J.C. calls for adjornment of the meeting at 6:10pm. The dinner banquet follows immediately across the hall. Dinner Banquet: For those in attendance, an "Outstanding" job kudos go to Bill Francis for the setup and moving speech, it will be remembered for a long time. Apologies go to those names and units I couldn't remember or forgot to include. Respectfully submitted: D. Milton/Recording Scty
