Comments: Just finished reading the accounts of Mike Connors and Phil Erhorn about the loss of their aircraft. Its hard to remember those days but we have to. I don't have much but memories and the feeling of connection to our old outfit and the men we served with, but I wouldn't trade these for anything. My kid can't ever know about those days and I hope he never comes close to that type of experience, I can't even explain it to him, but I often remember. A toast to all of us! We who survived and especially to those who didn't.

It will take a while to catch up with all the new postings. Take care of yourself.

My Postal Address is: 9283 Limerick Rd.
Comments: I was in the 1923-4th AACS unit at Randolph in 1952. I was Tower Chief then. I am looking for anyone that was there then and remembers or has any orders saved from there. I was discharged in December 1952 and at that time I told them my D214 was not correct. They said they would correct it and send it to me. I have been trying to get a corrected D214 since then I have written and called everyone all the way to Washington DC and they say they are working on it and sorry it has taken so long. The big thing is when I returned to Randolph from Korea they ask me to be in a Mobile Combat Unit with HQ in Tinker AFB, OK. I did and had to have a Power of Attorney for some one to take care of my car and other civilian thins if I was sent back to Korea. Three times we were loaded on a plane at Kelly AFb to go back, but each time it was called off. They will not answer me when I ask about this and say there is no records of me being at Randolph. I had never seen any papers on me from the time I arrived there in March 1952. They say my records were destroyed in a fire, I have been told this is not true, that they were just damaged some. My Discharged was written at Randolph and I ask if my records were destroyed how could they send me a copy of it as they did, NO answer for that. So if anyone can help me prove these things I will be thankful.

Comments: What a great site! You've done a terrific job. I found a guestbook entry by John Ekwall, one of our pilots at Phu Cat. And my own picture in the yearbook of the 361st, 1970-71, on page 29. But we hardly ever used that dart board in coming up with the flight schedule! Now, if only I could find Dave Sweet, Ken Lumry, Hugh Davidson, Ken McIlwain, Duke Wolf, Wayne Gamble, and some of the other great guys I served with, and ate with, and drank with, and played tennis with... What a time...

I flew 138 missions, and was on one of the first EC's to cross into Cambodia. Also tried to shoot down a weather balloon with six 38 calibre pistols! (We were asked to do it by ground controllers).

Comments: Tet! What a way to celebrate your 21st birthday. I spent three years as a 292xx instructor in Biloxi before being sent to DaNang. Morse code is still my 'second language' and I still do a lot of listening on H.F. radio. Extended to go airborne and was reassigned to Vietnam but became ill when I arrived in the P.I. for jungle survival school and was sent back to the States for discharge. I've always wished I could have completed the airborne tour.

Comments: G'day My unit was involved in SVN 1966 - 1971. Our parent unit is 7th Signal Regiment based here in Australia. We have served from Singapore throughout the whole of the Asian region since WW2. Prior to Vietnam we were heavily involved with the British Sigint units. However, we especially made many friends with our USA counterparts during Vietnam and as such they hold a special place in our memories. Sadly many have passed on from both sides but we are endeavouring to maintain contact through our local veterans group and would appreciate any contact with any one who flew missions that may have been connected with our own local army air intercept teams. If you would like a formal booklet history of our unit we would be only too pleased to send it to you. Regards John Zeller

Comments: Hi guys! Well it is the day before Thanksgiving and I am ready to eat. Now that I am teaching at the autistic school, in Garden City, MI., I am really looking forward to having the two weeks off at Christmas. I hope all your Holidays are as great as mine will be. I also have a new grandson along with my 15 month old grandaughter so I will have a lot of fun with them. Be Safe!

Comments: I was in the 41st TEWS and the 42nd TEWS at Takhli from 1967-1968. We wre proud of the EC-47 mission accomplishments. I first rode in a Gooney Bird at Shaw Field in 1953 -- it was a pretty drafty machine and the lobsters I was carrying back from Maine to the Officer's Club got loose from the bouncing around in the bad weather. Quite a memorable occassion.

I need to learn when to quit talking. I really was pleasently surprised to find this site. Thanks

I arrived thinking first I would be stationed with the 360th at Sigon then the 362 at Danag when when the 5 of us got off the plane at Tan Son Nute they told us we were going to the 361st at NKP Thailand. Spent 9 interesting months there. Learned alot. Was also interesting since I had only been married 3 months before I left. Often wondered what became of some of the guys I flew with. Your site is fantastic and if I ever get access to a scanner that will do justice to slides I have some pictures for you. Thanks, Jeff

Comments: I came over with the first squadrons of the EC-47 that were equipped with the ALR-35 computerized platforms. I flew 85 missions associated with maintenance support on the ALR-34 and ALR-35 systems. I went to Pleiku in Sep 68 and stayed there until Feb 69. I returned to Saigon and started the refurbishment program upgrading the ALR-34 to the ALR-35. I went back to Sanders in Nashua NH and helped them write the T.O. for the ALR-35 systems. In 1973 I was hired by Harris Intertype to support the ALR-34 systems at Danang that the USAF was giving to the VNAF. I was the only person on the entire team who had ever seen the ALR-34 systems when Harris took over. I spent two months sleeping most of the time in the shop training the Harris people and keeping the systems running. I left after the NVA blew up my jeep. I have a lot of good memories from that era. During my stay at Pleiku, I played music with a group called the Starlighters with a Young lady called Miss Mai as a show stopper. We played all over the Pleikuy area.

Comments: Thanks Dave for passing this WEB along. Really appreciate all the work that has been put into this. I will have to take vacation to read it all. Just had a good chuckle when I read the message from Col Mac as he provided my most exciting mission of the tour. Col Mac had the 2nd seat, we lost engine, landed at T (something), C47 arrived to pick up all crew but myself(RO sup). Col Mac wouldn't go back with them and stayed with me and the aircraft. Guess he figured if he did not stay I would be there all night. Yep, another C47 showed up with SPs and picked us up, just ahead of a huge storm. Guess he caught H..... from everybody and their brother for staying with the aircraft. Well anyway, it is good to chuckle. Thanks Com Mac whereever you are... Ret E-8 Smith
