Here, briefly, are the minutes of the Agent Orange meeting.
May 31st, 1999 1300hours
Speaker: Dr. Lamar Collie (Lt. Col. Retired Army Reserve)
VA Outpatient - Agent Orange Coordinator
Audie Murphy Hospital, San Antonio, Texas
contact nbr: 210-949-3000
Points: Agent Orange was used in S.E.A. up to 1971.
Urges all veterans who served in the EC47 mission to go for a
health check-up. Reason being that the toxin in Agent
Orange is now showing up in vets later in their life.
The toxin can remain in the body from 20-40 years with out
showing up.
You do not have to be directly sprayed, it was in the air and
if you were there there is a possibility you can be infected.
What to do: Make appointment at your nearest VA facility for the free
designated A.O. exam. Things to expect are: your medical
history report, bring DD214, physical exam, medical lab tests,
to be referred to another doctor not necessarily at the VA facility.
Be sure to register as a vet in the "Agent Orange Program".
Benefits: You may be able to receive benifits & disability payments for
at least 50%.
Problems: Dr. Lamar would like to hear from the veterans who went through
this testing, either positive comments or negative comments.
The VA Hospitals are supposed to have gotten the word to cooperate.
Dr. Lamar also urged all of us to at least have our prostate checked out as
that is one of the leading causes of death. Call him at 210-949-3000
Sincerely, Doug Milton
